Message in return to Sharon (webmaster)

Thank you for your reply Sharon, and u r right, i was lucky to see what i did see. The good points i didnt mention was that i got the sleeve of my Auf Weidersehen Pet video signed by all the cast (minus Jimmy of course!!) I did also get to speak with the cast quite a few times. I only wish Jimmy could have been as thoughtful as the others though!! But, hey, Jimmy cause u so lovely, i forgive u!!!

The Auf Wiedersehen, The Auf Wiedersehen, Pet DVD Campaign 12/Oct/2001:09:36:52
Calling all Auf Wiedersehen, Pet fans. Carlton Video, the video -&- DVD sales arm of Carlton Communications, have now cancelled the planned DVD release of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, citing the "poor quality" of the original video tape recordings. While we all agree that the quality of these recordings was not of the required quality for DVD, this should not be used by Carlton as an excuse to later release a poor quality VHS to DVD transfer, without any of the usual DVD extras.
Auf Wiedersehen, Pet is without doubt one of the best television series to have been broadcast on British TV, with viewing figures touching the 16 million mark at its peak. It is in our view the best British Comedy drama ever. When it was re-run by Channel 4 in the mid-nineties it was always at the top of their viewing charts, the numerous re-runs on various satellite channels since then has only increased its fan base. Also, the continuing sales of the VHS version - despite the poor visual quality, the copyright c

This is a message for Michelle (I met Jimmy Nail today 20/9)

Michelle, try not to be too disappointed in Jimmy. I know that you are frustrated that you waited all that time in the cold and wet and you couldn't meet him, but we all have to bear in mind in these situations, these people are working and could potentially spend all day talking to people. You managed to see part of the filming of the new series of AUF PET which for me and I'm sure 000's of others would have been amazing so please try to keep that memory with you and try to forget the disappointment

Regards

Sharon

Never mind on the show list, just found it on the web page!!
Gotta see Still Crazy
timmly44   05/Oct/2001:22:55:35
I first heard of Jimmy Nail back in 1996 when his song, Country Boy was released. My son was born earlier that year and when he could crawl he seemed to like that particular song. He'd only boogie when it was played. Nothing else seemed to tickle his fancy. I was curious to see what other music he had done and recently purchased Nail File. I love the album and so does the rest of my family. I had no idea Mr. Nail was an actor. Can anyone send me a list of shows or movies he's done?
Thanks Jimmy. You've gained another Canadian fan!!!

i met Jimmy Nail today (20.09.2001). He, along with fellow cast members, was filming the new series of Auf Weidersehen Pet at Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge. I went 3 days running to try and meet him, thinking he was worth the effort. Today, i waited 4 hours in the cold, wet rain to see Jimmy climb down the bridge steps after filming, and......blantley ignore me and the rest of his fans. Yes thats right, not even eye contact or a smile!!!. He couldnt get away quick enough. Thanks Jimmy!!!!

Fantastic news that AufPet is coming back to our screens. At last the BBC will be showing some quality on their station for a change. How the new series works after the length of time between series 2 and 3. Glad to see you back on the tv, as Spender is being repeated on UK Drama, also bought your album recently, Great Stuff !!!
Carolyn   19/Aug/2001:22:12:47
Looking forward to Auf Weidersehen Pet3, but have to agree with the previous guest. It just doesn't seem to have any continuity with the previous series. It will be interesting to see how things work out. Nice to see Jimmy Nail back on the TV again. It's been far too long.
Billy Price   17/Aug/2001:14:59:01
I was ecstatic when i read about the new Auf wiedersehen pet series. Then i read the bit about the new character wyman, waynes son, being brought in to replace london and saw a picture of him. Waynes son? My eyesight isn't that good but even i could see that wayne was not black, who was responsible for this ridiculous piece of casting? But then i noticed that the bbc was going to make it and realised what had happened. Auf wiedersehen pet couldn't possibly be brought back by the bbc unless the necessary non-sexist, non-racist cast and script changes
where made, and an all male, all white main cast would be a definite no-no with the fanatically liberal bbc, it doesn't fit in with their twisted view of the world. Auf wiedersehen would have to be made all trendy and have a suitably ethnic and sexual mix, so for starters in comes this absurd character, wyman. Should have seen it coming really, i wonder what other acts of liberal mischief the terminally trendy freaks at the bbc have in

I WAS VERY LUCKY TO SEE JIMMY AT NEWCASTLE AND CARLISE. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. HE WAS FANTASTIC. I HAD THE TICKETS 196 DAYS BEFORE AND I COUNTED THE DAYS UNTIL I SAW HIM. I THOUGHT ALL THE COVER VERSIONS WERE DONE REALLY WELL. I COULD NOT WAIT FOR THE NEW CD TO COME OUT. IT IS FANTASTIC. I THOUGHT TADPOLES IN A JAR JUST COULD NOT BE BEATEN BUT I WAS WRONG. MORE PLEASE AS I AM A GEORDIE LIVING IN CUMBRIA. I HAVE TO TAKE A LOT OF STICK AS I PLAY JIMMY SONGS ALL THE TIME. THE LOCAL RADIO STATION PLAYED ME JIMMY AND SAID I WAS THE ONLY FAN IN CUMBRIA. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT CARLISE THAT NIGHT AS THE PLACE WAS ROCKING.

Hi from down under AUSTRALIA. I was born in Newcastle but have lived in Australia for most of my life. I have seen Spender and Crocodile Shoes and think that Jimmy Nail is the Bees Knees so to speak. Hey Jimmy keep up the great acting and music. HOWAY THE LADS . Go NEWCASTLE UNITED!!!!!! Regards from Australia

dear Sharon

Nice website, an underrated artist and songwriter in my opinion. I'm a Prefab Sprout fan, so naturally admire Jimmy's work too. I can also recommend that you perhaps give a new band, 'Cousteau' a listen to, they have a website at www.cousteau.tv that might whet your appetite. I actually rate their musuc as better even than the 'Sprouts Keep up the good work with the site.
Kind regards

Girvan

Just got back from seeing the Big man at Margate. Though his version of "You've Got A Friend" brought a tear to my eye, and "Big River" was outstanding, I felt he was just going through the motions. No sparkle, too much chat and I wish he had sorted his monitors, mikes etc. before the show and not during. Dissapointing!:)

Message for Alan Tonge, Geoff Dugmore is the musical Director on the tour and i am pretty sure that he was drumming hope this answers your question. Great concert Jimmy , pity you weren't around to sign autographs at Harrogate ( or were you and we were misled ?)
pamela brindley   01/May/2001:19:35:02
just to say what a brilliant concert on saturday night, we certainly were not disappointed. At last 10 great songs has been released and it was certainly worth waiting for. I was a bit disappointed that 'the look of love' and 'what if god' wasn't included in the tracks as I thought they sounded brilliant live but maybe we can have that second album with the remainder of the songs you've recently recorded but not released. By the way you never did tell us that juicy story you promised!!!

Went to see jimmy on friday at the Victoria hall in Hanley, he was out of this world. we were on the front row, and after he had gone off stage one of the lads gave me the list of songs he had been following, it is now pinned up on my notice board in the kitchen. love to jimmy and his family Aud xxxxxxx

Emma from Northampto   24/Apr/2001:09:35:20
I really enjoyed the gig on 21st April at the Derngate, Northampton. I was particularly touched by the tribute to Alan Hull who is one of my favourite artists and I was lucky enough to see him perform at Derngate in 1994.
I also enjoyed the touching version of 'Youve got a friend'. In fact the whole evening was wonderful. Pity it was so cold!

The concert at Newcastle City Hall on 09/04/01 was without doubt one of the best gigs to date. Jim's voice was as powerful as was soulful depending on the songs. His obvious delight at playing to a home crowd was a joy to see. Throughout the evening he talked to the audience with all the ease of friends on a night out. The set was varied and well thought out and I can't imagine anyone going home that night without a smile on their face or a tune in their head.
Thanks for a wonderful evening, count on it that all your hard work payed off.
Carolyn.
Janice Saleem   17/Apr/2001:23:26:44
Just got back from Sheffield. Fantastic performance as usual. Sixth concert i've been to and never disappointed. So near the front this time it was good to see faces and you can clearly see all the band members were really enjoying themselves. (Hope you weren't too hard on Graham going off into dreamland Jimmy!!! Great rendition of the Dusty Springfield number-i'm sure it will stay in the set to the end of the tour. Well done Jimmy and never mind an OK Voice it's a GREAT ONE.
Steve Sowerby   16/Apr/2001:22:11:44
Well, well, well.... I have just returned from th Harrogate gig for which I bought four tickets for my wife to take herfriends, but she chose to take the family. We have very mixed musical tastes and have seen lots of musicians over the years from big names to small gigs in tiny venues. BUT - I have to say that it was a wonderful night - the gig was brilliant, he was very communicative and the enjoyment he got from it all came accross so well. The bottom line is that I'll happily part with money to see him again.
See- even at my age I'm not too old to be converted!
chocs   15/Apr/2001:14:19:51
Saw Jimmy on Friday at Harrogate - Great night - again !! Songs were great - old and new - wanted to hang about to do a bit of stalking er.... i mean... get his autograph - but was told he'd already naffed !!!! tut, tut.
Gill__Hesk   14/Apr/2001:17:06:29
Saw Jimmy in concert last night at Harrogate International Centre. The show was good but not as good as the one i went to in York Barbican Centre April 1998. I think that it was more the Centre that cheesed me off as it was difficult parking in the underground car park and i have a wide car, It was too stuffy in the concert hall and i felt really hemmed in, the interval of 30 minutes was too long and i felt that Jimmy wasn't on long enough !. The worst thing for me was the staff within the centre, they just wanted people out of the building at the end and therefore i felt that if i didn't get my car from the car park that it would be locked in for the night.
I don't know whether or not anyone else who visits tgis site was there and if they can tell me if they waited around at the stage door and if they saw him or got autographs etc. i was told that he left immediately which i found it hard to believe as at the York -&- Middlesbrough concerts i have been to i have always got Jimmy's au

What can I say Newcastle 9th April 2001 at 8.34 a shiver went down my spine as Jim came on stage. The concert was brilliant as he is always at home in his home town. He came on stage and said "there is no place like home". He did all the old favourites Crodile Shoes, Blue Roses, but also some from his new album which is very good but not out yet but as I already have it I could join in and sing along to some of the numbers, also got him to sign both my Crocodile shoes books and my spender book also got a piccie of him coming out of the stage door with his lovely leather trousers on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw The Great Man himself at Aberdeen's Music Hall last night. What a brilliant Gig! Been to all four of his Aberdeen tour's, the first one at the AECC takes some beating, however last night's concert was by far the best one he has done in the Music Hall.
He played a few of our favourites from Crocodile Shoes etc, as well as many of the cover versions soon to be released on "ten great songs.....".
Wish I had the time/money to go and see one of his other dates on the tour! Those of you who have tickets for these dates are in for a real treat!
Best wishes

What a great site, Sharon! I moved to Canada 18 months ago -&- never felt homesick till I saw your site!! All those gigs -&- not a cat in hell's chance of getting there. I play my JN CD's at parties -&- people think the songs are great. Please, tell him, come to Ontario -&- make the break-through into this land. I'm getting withdrawls!!!!!

P.S.
I looked on the Virgin net site and all Jimmy's tour dates appear to be listed except the 10 May one at Southend. Jimmy may want to put this right?
Dave

Hi Sharon,
My wife and her friend are avid fans and are going to see him on 10 May 2001 at Southend. Her friend missed his last tour due to severe illness, is there some way to contact Jimmy to request a song dedication when they go this time?
Regards, Dave

Hi!
My name is Laila, from Norway, and I was just wondering if it was possible for you to get me assigned picture of Jimmy Nail.
I hope to come over to Edinburgh playhouse in April for your concert.
Lots of love

What can I say,Jimmy Nail is such a hero!People think I am rather odd because I named my cocker spaniel Jimmy Nail, and he answers to it!He is very happy with his name! I have got my ticket booked for this years tour date, this time I am going to scarborough and it will be the fourth jimmy gig I will have been to, so that will mean another programme and tee-shirt for my collection....I only wish there was a fan club, I have wrote all over but had no luck, anyone heard of one?

Just a little message to say sorry you can't e-mail me. But due to the fact I didn't go to into my mailbox for a long time, I have lost my hotmail page. I've got to get a new one set up. Apolegies.
Thanks for your great work on the new website, I've got tickets for Portsmouth in May. Can't wait !!
